Born in North Western Montana in the
heart of timber and farming, I cannot remember my youth without a pencil
or a fishing pole in my hands. I had some inspirational people in my
life, a relative who worked with C.M. Russell, through this and his
paintings were inspirational as well as N.C. Wyeth a premium
illustrator. My mother who was an artist, and a source of art supplies,
my father was in the timber industry and was my critic, school mates who
were artistic as well. I spent many days at the end of the road. It can
be a wonderful experience to be in nature fishing streams which never
had a hook or line. To experience a bull elk drinking within feet of
where one stands down wind, to watch him brace as he looks, curiosity
brings him closer. Climb to a mountain peak meadow with hundreds of wild
sheep without worry graze within a rocks toss, so many the visions. To
have a 1000 caribou some so curious they actually touch you with their
nose, to have a large brown bear come from the shadowed grass and stare
you in the eyes.
